Minnesota faces air quality alert amid Canadian wildfires [Video]

Air in the northern portion of the state is expected to be unhealthy for all groups, while those in sensitive or compromised groups could be impacted in the south.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Canadian wildfires continue to have an impact on the atmosphere over Minnesota, triggering an Air Quality Alert for the entire state Monday. 

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) issued the alert through 6 p.m. Monday. A map on the agency’s website shows that the northern portion of the state is red, which indicates unhealthy conditions for all residents due to fine particles in the air. This area includes Brainerd, Bemidji, East Grand Forks, Moorhead, International Falls, Two Harbors, Hibbing, Ely, Duluth, Roseau and the Tribal Nations of Leech Lake, Red Lake, Grand Portage and Fond du Lac.
