Mission RCMP issue public call out amid mailbox thefts [Video]

Police are requesting the public’s help with an investigation into a series of mailbox and mail thefts in Mission.

According to a release issued Saturday, Mission RCMP were notified Jan. 11 of two Canada Post community mailboxes that had been stolen from Riverside Street in Abbotsford and dumped on Draper Street near Cemetery Avenue in Mission.

A third mailbox, stolen from Machell Street in west Mission, was later found dumped along Tyler Street.

“All of the boxes had been pried open and the mail from within had been stolen,” Mission RCMP said in the statement.

Police are asking anyone in the affected areas to check their CCTV footage for any suspicious vehicles or activity during the night of Jan. 10-11.

Anyone who has any information, or who notices their own community mailbox has been tampered with or stolen, are asked to contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
