Mom of transgender man killed in NY speaks out about her son’s death [Video]

ONTARIO COUNTY, N.Y. — The brutal murder of Sam Nordquist, a 24-year-old transgender man from Minnesota, has left his family devastated and searching for answers. 

Nordquist was found dead in a field in New York state on Thursday, Feb. 13, after investigators say he was subjected to weeks of torture and abuse.

Linda Nordquist, Sam’s mother, spoke with KARE 11 about her son. 

“The last thing Sam said is, ‘I love you, and I’ll call you tomorrow.’ Tomorrow came and I never heard a word,” she said.

Sam had traveled to New York on Sept. 28, 2024, to meet an online girlfriend, with plans to return to Minnesota two weeks later. When he didn’t return as scheduled, Linda requested a welfare check. The last time she heard his voice was on Jan. 1, 2025.
