Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a garage in Île Bizard was set on fire overnight.

SPVM spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier said police received a call around 2:45 a.m. Sunday about a fire at an auto repair shop on Paiement Road. Firefighters quickly got the blaze under control.

Officers found an incendiary device on the floor of the garage, leading them to suspect arson. According to police, a pile of tires would have been set on fire before the flames spread to a vehicle and the building.

CTV News noted what looked like bullet holes in the door of the repair shop, but police did not confirm the gunshots. However, Gauthier said the shop’s window had been smashed with a brick earlier in the week.
