TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – U.S. consumer confidence fell in February, the biggest monthly decline in more than four years.

This comes amid a trade war where President Donald Trump is slapping tariffs on some foreign products, including proposing a potential tariff on Canadian lumber and dairy up to 250%.

“Predictably is the friend to everybody, including any small businesses or large businesses,” Timothy Heckler, President of Toledo Plywood said.

However, the President said Canada is engaging in unfair trade.

“Canada has been ripping us off for years on tariffs for lumber and for dairy products,” Trump said. “250%, nobody ever talks about that, 250% tariff. Which is taking advantage of our farmers, so that’s not gonna happen anymore. They’ll be met with the exact same tariff unless they drop it.”
