After a rollercoaster ride with U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, it’s difficult to say what will happen next.

But most people who responded to a poll from INsauga.com don’t believe the tariffs will last more than a year.

U.S. President Donald Trump had initially suggested tariffs would start in February but then said there would be a pause until March. On Tuesday, March 4, the president’s executive order took effect hitting Canada and Mexico with 25 per cent across-the-board tariffs, with a lower 10 per cent levy on Canadian energy.

The INsauga.com poll asked How long do you think U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods will last? The largest number of people, 2,193 or 39.69 per cent, said less than three months.

A total of 830 (15.02 per cent) people said three to six months; 702 (12.7 per cent) said more than six months but less than a year; 892 (16.14 per cent) said a year or more; and 909 (16.45 …
