Mother of son with dyslexia faces deadline for legal action against Green Bay schools [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Monday, a Green Bay mother and the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) could take legal action against the Green Bay Area Public School District.

The mother is accusing the district of denying her son reading support based on his race.

The Green Bay Area Public School District says it’s investigating these allegations.

WILL says a student with dyslexia is being denied reading sources because of his race and claims the district says in its school success plan that it prioritizes some racial groups over others.

Monday is the deadline for WILL to take legal action against the school district.

The student’s parent, Colbey Decker, says the King Elementary school success plan posted on the school’s website says “intentional work educating our focus students prioritizing additional resources to First Nation, Black and Hispanic students.”
