A motorcyclist has died in a crash on Highway 401 in Oshawa.

The motorcyclist hit the rear of a tractor trailer on the highway at Harmony Road just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on X.

The 25-year-old man from Pickering was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead, Schmidt said.

There were no other injuries reported in the collision.

All eastbound lanes are expected to be closed for several hours.
