MPP Williams holds onto Brampton riding amid challenge from former council colleague [Video]

Incumbent Member of Provincial Parliament and former City Coun. Charmaine Williams has held onto the riding of Brampton-Centre for the PC Party of Ontario in the face of a challenge from onetime colleague Coun. Martin Medeiros.

Williams won the riding with XYZ votes, according to results from Elections Ontario on Thursday night. Over 35.5 per cent of the 67,417 registered voters in Brampton-Centre cast their ballots, the early results showed.

Now a two-time winning MPP, Williams stepped down from her post as City Councillor for Wards 7 and 8 in 2022 to run in the riding in the 2022 provincial election, beating out incumbent NDP MPP Sara Singh. She was also named Ontario’s Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity.
