N.B. news: Government offer electricity rebate program [Video]

The New Brunswick government is launching a rebate program for residential electricity customers in the new year.

The program, which starts in January, will allow eligible customers to receive a 10 per cent rebate on their monthly electricity usage, according to a news release from the province. The rebate amount will be equivalent to the provincial portion of the HST.

“With temperatures falling, many of us will soon be turning up our thermostats to stay warm during the coldest days. With energy costs continuing to climb, we are providing affordability relief that will ensure New Brunswickers can stay warm this winter,” said Premier Susan Holt in the release.

The government will spend roughly $32 million on the program for the current fiscal year, followed by $92.6 million beginning in 2025-2026.
