N.J. man pleads guilty after firing gun near campus, injuring 2 affiliated with Rutgers [Video]

The man accused of firing a gun near Rutgers University and injuring two people associated with the university in early April, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and possession of a gun Wednesday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and New Brunswick police Chief Vincent Sabo announced.

Christian Farmer, 20, of New Brunswick was accused by prosecutors of firing a gun from a car in the area of Easton Avenue and Hamilton Street on April 5, striking two people in the area. Farmer pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted murder and second-degree possession of a gun for an unlawful purpose.

Authorities responded to 66 Easton Avenue around 2 a.m. on April 5 for a report of gunfire in the area and found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities said. Police said at the time of the shooting that the man was struck outside the building and the woman was hit inside her residence by a stray bullet.
