MLA David Bowlby is heading to the Nova Scotia legislature following a recount that confirmed his victory in the provincial election last month.
Bowlby, representing the Progressive Conservatives, ran for the Annapolis district seat in the November election, beating Liberal candidate Carman Kerr by seven votes.
According to Elections Nova Scotia, a recount is automatically triggered if the number of votes separating the top candidate from the others is less than 10.
In the recount, Bowlby scored 3,289 votes compared to Kerr’s 3,281, meaning Bowlby actually won by eight votes.
NDP candidate Cheryl Burbridge won 689 votes while Green Party candidate Sara Adams secured 138.
On Monday, a recount confirmed Liberal Leader Zach Churchill lost the Yarmouth riding to PC Nick Hilton by 14 votes. Churchill resigned as leader on Tuesday.
