Nova Scotia shoppers scoured for the best deals on Boxing Day as 2024 wound to a close.

The Halifax Shopping Centre opened its doors earlier than usual on Friday to accommodate eager bargain hunters, with people flooding in at 8 a.m.

“We opened at 8 a.m. for those people who are really eager to get out,” said Stephanie Schnare, Halifax Shopping Centre spokesperson. “We see people coming out early if they’re really looking for something specific. Electronics are big right now. Certainly, with the arrival of the snow, I imagine a lot of winter foods and clothing will be popular items today as well.”

Many stores advertised discounts from 20 to 70 per cent off. Schnare said Boxing Day remains one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
