SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Over the weekend, Native American culture was celebrated in downtown Sioux Falls.
The “All my Relatives Festival” was held on Friday evening and all day Saturday at the Levitt.
The event included a panel discussion on the history of boarding schools, a fashion show, art and live music.
South Dakota has a storied Native American history and one of the performers said gatherings like this are a way to keep that history alive.
“All my Relatives is representing everybody, all nations all directions. As hoop dancers, we really represent unity as well so it just goes hand in hand,” said Starr Chief Eagle. “I know there are a lot of Indigenous people here that are representing our side of the story. Our art, our history and who we are. We’re very thankful to be able to share that with the community.”
The headline event was Native American rapper Supaman.
