Native American Lifelines of Boston hosts 2024 Harvest Fest [Video]

AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Native American Lifelines of Boston hosted their 2024 Harvest Fest.

The purpose of the event was to reach native and indigenous populations in the Amherst area and offered vaccinations, cultural activities, games, and food, all for free.

They even had a dental hygienist on-site for screenings. We talked to the director of the Oketeau Cultural Center, Larry Spotted Crow Mann, who told us more about the event’s significance.

“This is extremely significant for Indigenous peoples because we disproportionally don’t have access to healthcare. We don’t have access to wellness that is so much needed within our community, so we’re very grateful whenever we can host events such as this to go to where people are, especially out here in western Mass,” he explained.

Spotted Crow Mann finished by saying how he always reminds folks, there is power in allyship when it comes to helping Indigenous Peoples.
