A Quebec woman wanted by police after an officer was struck by a vehicle during an arrest attempt in Oshawa last week is facing new charges for falsely identifying herself when she was arrested March 13 for auto theft.
Assia Ouadria, 31, has now been identified as Asmaa Ouadria, 24.
Ouadria, one of 11 people – all from Quebec – charged two weeks ago following a two-month investigation by Durham Police’s auto theft unit, is now wanted for obstructing police, evading lawful custody and failing to comply with release order, with additional charges expected.
An officer with Durham Police’s Project Attire Auto Theft Unit was in the plaza at 22 Stevenson Rd. S. at 1:30 p.m. on March 21 when he saw a suspect from the recent auto-theft investigation “breaching her release conditions.”
