New documentary to be made about a Dawson Creek meteorite [Video]

DAWSON CREEK –A documentary will explore the history of a meteorite from Dawson Creek that made its way around B.C.

The director of the documentary is an Israeli filmmaker named Yoav Shamir. He was on a road trip when he met a man named Dave in Cherry Point. He asked Shamir if he’d like to see something from outer space. Dave showed him the meteorite which Shamir would come to learn had a rich history.

It was discovered by Frank Coons in 1965. The meteor is said to have touched down years before on the Ravelli farm in Rolla.

CJDC spoke with the editorial researcher for the documentary Nancy Marcotte, who spoke about the importance of the project.

“Memory is so important, and I think a documentary like that is important. People should listen to… the particular stories that happened in their area.”
