A New England man who is a U.S. citizen said American border agents in Vermont detained him for several hours Sunday night as he and his wife were trying to return home from Canada.Bachir Atallah said he’s still not sure why he was detained.”He just reached for his gun,” Atallah said. “He’s like, ‘Step out of the vehicle right now.’ I said, ‘OK, I’m stepping out.'”Atallah said he and his wife were detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in Vermont. “For no reason,” he said. “And even if there was any reason that I don’t know about, they didn’t even share that reason with me.”Atallah is a U.S. citizen.
