Last week’s mild temperatures will feel like a distant memory as colder weather sweeps across southern Ontario this week.

Rain and snow are set to create a slushy mix, just in time for those heading outdoors with family and friends to ring in 2025.

As of today (Dec. 29), Ontario residents will start the day under mainly cloudy skies with foggy patches that will dissipate by morning. Rain is expected to move in, bringing an accumulation of 15 to 25 mm across the area.

Winds will strengthen to 20 km/h as the day progresses, with daytime highs reaching 12 C. Sunset is set for 4:46 p.m.

Environment Canada says cloudy skies will persist into the evening as heavy rainfall continues, raising the risk of localized flooding on roads and low-lying areas. Rainfall is expected to add up to 5 mm or more before tapering off around midnight.
