New York State Parks offer New Year’s Day hikes [Video]

HAMLIN, N.Y. — You’re invited to start the new year outside, with a First Day Hike scheduled at parks and trails across the state. It’s become a growing nationwide New Year’s Day tradition.

Hamlin Beach State Park along Lake Ontario is one of dozens of state parks hosting First Day Hikes to get you out and about to enjoy nature this time of year. This hike will start with hot cocoa and treats inside and then it’s a scenic hike on the beach.

“All of our New York State parks are open all year round and the beautiful part of this is that a lot of people don’t know that they are open, but there is just still so much to see in the winter,” said Kelly Adams, public affairs coordinator for NYS Parks.
