BUFFALO, N.Y. — A driver died after losing control of a box truck that rolled over Friday night in the City of Buffalo.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday, on the 190 South ramp and merging onto the Thruway’s eastbound lanes. New York State Police said “due to unsafe speed the operator,” the 2023 Penske box truck rolled onto its driver side.
The driver, identified as 53-year-old Bhupinder S. Boyal of Brampton, Ontario, was declared dead at the scene. Boyal’s body was taken to Erie County Medical Center for an autopsy.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation helped clean up a large amount of diesel fuel that leaked, police said. The scene was cleared after roughly five and a half hours.
