The next big one for the United States is Aug. 12, 2045. Here’s when the next solar eclipse will be viewable in North Carolina.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — So when’s the next one? 

In the world? Aug. 12, 2026. It will go from Greenland to Iceland and then to Spain. 

In North America? Aug. 22, 2044. It will mostly go through Canada, but it will also include Montana and the Dakotas. 

The next big one for the United States is Aug. 12, 2045. It will go from California to Florida, passing over the Rockies, the Plains, and the South. 

The next total eclipse for North Carolina? May 11, 2078. Fifty-four years from now, a total eclipse will occur in South and North Carolina. It will pass through Greenville, Spartanburg, Columbia, Charlotte, Asheboro, Raleigh, and Fayetteville. (Winston-Salem and Greensboro will be just outside of totality)
