If your garbage, recycling or compost bins are normally picked up on Wednesdays, you’ll notice a change in your collection over the next two weeks.

The City of Calgary won’t be picking up blue, black or green carts on Christmas Day – which falls on a Wednesday this year – or on New Year’s Day – also on a Wednesday.

Collections for both of those dates has been moved up by two days:

  • Dec. 25 pickup moves to Monday, Dec. 23; and
  • Jan. 1 pickup moves to Monday, Dec. 30.

The change will impact some 180,000 households.

Regular Wednesday collection resumes on Jan. 8.

To check your collection schedule, you can visit the City of Calgary’s website or download the Calgary Garbage Day app.
