No foul play in Bowmanville fire death: Ontario Fire Marshal [Video]

The Ontario Fire Marshal has determined there was no foul play in the death of a person found in the charred remains of a block of downtown Bowmanville destroyed by fire earlier this month.

Efforts to determine the cause, origin and circumstances of the fire, which swept through a block of King Street from 59-95 King St. W. in the early hours of March 6, remain ongoing.

A post-mortem examination of the body discovered one week ago found “no signs of foul play” and investigators believe that the injuries sustained were a result of the fire.

One resident had been unaccounted for since the blaze but investigators say they are still working to determine to confirm the person’s identity.

The fire has closed a portion of King Street in Bowmanville’s historic downtown for the foreseeable future and left a community devastated by the loss of a life.
