NOACA has issued a Tuesday air quality advisory for Greater Cleveland and Akron due to ‘fine particle matter’ from the ongoing wildfires in Canada.

CLEVELAND — The Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) has preemptively issued a Tuesday air quality advisory for all of Greater Cleveland and Akron due to “fine particle matter,” likely from the ongoing wildfires up north in Canada.

According to NOACA, the alert will be in effect all day Tuesday. The air may be “unhealthy for sensitive groups” during this period, with the following counties impacted:

  • Ashtabula
  • Cuyahoga
  • Geauga
  • Lake
  • Lorain
  • Medina
  • Portage
  • Summit

“Sensitive groups” include children, the elderly, and those with breathing issues. People in those categories should watch their time outdoors and keep an eye on the latest air quality readings, with NOACA also offering the following tips to help limit air pollution:

  • Drive less: bike, walk, use transit, work from home, combine trips.
