‘Not made in America’ campaign aims to counter Trump tariffs in Brampton [Video]

The city is looking at how it can support the local economy and do business with “not made in America” companies amid tariffs laid by U.S. President Donald Trump.

“We are very proud Canadians – we can’t brush off one of the biggest threats to our economy,” Brampton City Coun. Rowena Santos told business leaders at the Brampton Board of Trade’s 2025 State of the City Mayor’s Luncheon last week.

Santos made the comments after Trump paused a looming 25 per cent tariff on all Canadian goods, but prior to him slapping the same tax on aluminum and steel coming into the U.S. with no exceptions on Monday.

With new tariffs in place and threats of more on the way, Santos says Brampton is “preparing to defend our local economy and jobs” with a Made in Canada …
