NY weather: Damaging winds expected with thunderstorms to hit Wayne County Tuesday [Video]

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 1:24 p.m. on Tuesday in effect until 1:45 p.m. for Wayne County.

Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

“At 1:24 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Ontario, or near Webster, moving east at 30 mph,” says the weather service. “Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.”

Locations impacted by the warning include Ontario, Williamson, Marion, Sodus, Walworth, Macedon, Sodus Point, Fairville, Union Hill and West Walworth.

The weather service comments, “Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
