NY weather: Damaging winds foreseen with thunderstorms in New York Monday [Video]

On Monday at 4:17 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 5:15 p.m. for Livingston, Monroe, Ontario and Wayne counties.

Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 70 mph.

“At 4:17 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Scottsville, or 9 miles south of Chili, moving east at 35 mph,” according to the weather service. “Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.”

Locations impacted by the warning include Canandaigua, Geneseo, East Rochester, Fairport, Brighton, Ontario, Henrietta, Penfield, Palmyra and Avon. This includes the following highways: Interstate 390 between exits 8 and 12. Interstate 90 between exits 43 and 46.
