NY weather: New York under a flood warning until Friday evening [Video]

A flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 2:08 p.m. in effect until 6:45 p.m. for Livingston, Monroe, Ontario and Wayne counties.

The weather service states, “Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues for Livingston, Monroe, Ontario and Wayne counties.”

“Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring,” comments the weather service. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.”
