NY weather: Thunderstorms with pea-sized hail to hit New York Sunday [Video]

The National Weather Service issued a report at 5:27 p.m. on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 6:15 p.m. for Orleans, Monroe, Genesee, Livingston and Ontario counties.

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) are likely.

“At 5:26 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Byron, or near Batavia, moving east at 40 mph,” states the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.”

Locations impacted by the alert include Rochester, Irondequoit, Chili, Batavia, East Rochester, Fairport, Brighton, Gates-North Gates, Henrietta, Penfield, Le Roy, Victor, Honeoye Falls, Byron, Caledonia, Scottsville, Churchville, Oakfield, Mendon and Riga. This includes the following highways: Interstate 390 between exits 11 and 12. Interstate 90 between exits 45 and 48.
