An off-duty officer with the Brandon Police Service (BPS) was shot with a BB gun on Sunday.

The incident began just before 6 p.m. on Sunday when the off-duty officer saw a 28-year-old woman blocking traffic in the 800 block of Brandon’s Princess Avenue.

When the victim confronted the woman, asking her to move out of the way so traffic could flow, she pulled out a pistol and shot him four to five times in the upper body. The off-duty officer was eventually able to gain control and pull the pistol away from the suspect.

The woman fled the scene and was arrested a short time later on 9th Street.

Police determined the pistol was a CO2-powered 4.5 mm caliber BB gun. The officer was not physically hurt.

The woman was taken into custody. She is facing several charges including assault with a weapon.
