Andrew Lawton, the newly elected MP for Elgin-St. Thomas-London South, was welcomed by volunteers and supporters in St. Thomas on Monday night.
On a night when the Conservatives fell short of forming government, former journalist Andrew Lawton was able to secure a win for the Tories in the riding of Elgin—St. Thomas—London South.
With 166 of 180 of the riding’s polls reporting late Monday night, Lawton had 30,428 votes, almost 5,000 more than second-place finisher Liberal David Goodwin, and more than 28,000 more than the NDP’s Paul Pighin.
The former radio host and author told the crowd of supporters gathered at the Columbus Club of St. Thomas that he is grateful for their support and looking forward to bringing a new conservative voice to Ottawa.
