Police say one person is dead following a deliberately set fire at a restaurant in the community of Nobleton north of Toronto.
According to York Regional Police, shortly before 3 a.m. on Feb. 16, emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the restaurant fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters extinguished the flames, conducted a search of the property and located a deceased person inside.
The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Police say the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in because of the circumstances surrounding the fire.
“Through investigative efforts, a suspect was identified and charged,” said police. “This incident is considered targeted and investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to check their security cameras or dashcam footage.”
