Police were on the scene of a double shooting in Oshawa Wednesday night, with two people in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Police were called to the south side of John Street at Simcoe Street just before 8 p.m. for reports of gunfire and found a man who had been shot. He was taken to a Toronto trauma centre.
A second man suffering from a gunshot wound arrived at Oshawa Hospital on his own.
One of the shooting victims was a youth, police said.
One man is in custody and Durham Police say there is “no threat” to public safety at this time.
The shootings happened across the street from Oshawa’s downtown Memorial Park and half a block from a senior citizens’ home.
Police promise to provide updates as the investigation continues.
