A Toronto man convicted of gun trafficking nearly five years ago and on the run from police as one of Canada’s most wanted fugitives has been arrested in the U.S.
Toronto Police said on Friday Kamar Cunningham, 43, was arrested and taken into custody on Wednesday by U.S. Marshals in Atlanta, Georgia.
He’s being held there pending extradition back to Toronto, police added.
At one point while on the run from authorities, Cunningham found himself early last year at No. 4 on Canada’s 25 Most Wanted list. At that time, a $50,000 reward was offered for information leading to his capture.
He was wanted in connection with several active bench warrants and a failure to comply with a release order, police say.
On Nov. 27, 2020, Cunningham was convicted of several firearms trafficking charges and in May 2021 was sentenced, in absentia, to nine years in prison. He did not appear for his sentencing hearing and has …
