Oneida Nation brings an indigenous fashion show to Tarlton Theater [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Oneida Nation held an indigenous fashion show at the Tarlton Theater Tuesday night to celebrate Draft week.

All pieces featured in the inaugural event, which was a collaboration between the tribe and the Broadway District, came from native designers.

Oneida smoke dancers also performed.

Marlon Skenandore, a council member of the Oneida Nation, said it’s important, especially this week, when all eyes are on Green Bay, to remind the public that the Oneida tribe is also a part of that community and deserves to be celebrated as well.

“We wanted to throw something on during the NFL Draft to highlight Oneida and native culture, so we got indigenous entrepreneurs here, we got indigenous designers, indigenous models, we got an indigenous DJ. We wanted to get a full package and highlight who we are as people,” Skenandore said.
