A pair of teenagers reported missing last month have been located.
Waterloo Regional Police say the girls, only identified as 15-year-old Aleena and 17-year-old Sophia, were last seen at Bramalea City Centre in Brampton. They are from the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
Police have not commented on the girls’ well-being and have said they will not release any further information about the case.
Concern about the girls had increased since they were last seen on March 29.
Last week, Aleena’s mother told INsauga.com she believed her daughter had been lured by human traffickers.
Julie Sawatzky said the families did have “intermittent” communication with the girls, but she feared they had been “brainwashed.”
“Whatever they’re involved with, they’ve been brainwashed for months, maybe longer,” said Sawatzky. “(We are) all very scared for their well-being and that what they’re involved with is absolutely not good for them.”
