The Oshawa Generals have added a two-time Memorial Cup-winning coach to their squad as they gear up for the playoffs, which begin March 27.
Mario Pouliot, who won Memorial Cups with Acadie-Bathurst in 2018 and Rouyn-Noranda in 2019, joins the staff as an associate coach to work with head coach Brad Malone and assistants Patrick Sexton and Mike Farrugia.
Pouliot, the CHL’s Coach of the Year in 2019, is the only coach to have won back-to-back Memorial Cups with different teams.
“Adding Mario to Brad’s staff is an exciting move for us,” said General Manager Roger Hunt. “He has a lot of experience in junior hockey and success to go along with it.”
“To be honest the process only had to go as far as looking at Mario’s two Memorial Cups,” he added. “No need to look any further.”
