Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie has failed to win her own seat in the provincial election.
Crombie, who is the former mayor of Mississauga, lost to Progressive Conservative candidate Silvia Gualtieri in the riding of Mississauga East-Cooksville.
With 100 per cent of polls reporting, Gualtieri had 46.46 per cent of the vote to Crombie’s 43.06 per cent.
Behind them in third place was NDP candidate Alex Venuto with 5.20 per cent of the vote and Green Party candidate David Zeni with 2.06 per cent.
All three other main party leaders were projected to win their own seats in the provincial election that saw the Progressive Conservatives handed a third consecutive majority government.
The Canadian Press projects that Doug Ford will again win his riding of Etobicoke North, NDP Leader Marit Stiles will reclaim Davenport, and Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner will be re-elected in Guelph.
