Stuart Park in Clarington was vandalized on the weekend with Nazi swastikas
Swastikas and hate-motivated graffiti spray painted on playground equipment at a park in Clarington on the weekend has local officials “disheartened,” with Mayor Adrian Foster calling it a “small-minded act that harkens to a dark period of systemic violence and hate.”
“I am deeply disheartened by the hateful graffiti found in our local park. Scribbling the Nazi swastika where our children play … does a great disservice to our entire community. It does not reflect the Clarington I believe in.”
Officers got a call for hate-motivated graffiti in Stuart Park in Courtice just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, Durham Regional Police said Monday.
The vandalism included swastikas spray painted on a slide and another beneath a panel, along with profane language.
