Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a four-vehicle crash in Brampton.

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday in the area of Mississauga Road and Steeles Avenue in Brampton, Peel Regional Police said yesterday.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash and two adult victims were transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

Just before 10 p.m., Peel Regional Police said the Special Investigations Unit had invoked their mandate.

It is not immediately clear why the SIU is investigating the crash.

The SIU is responsible for investigating circumstances involving police in Ontario that have resulted in a death or serious injury, or if a firearm was discharged at a person.

Mississauga Road and Steeles Avenue were closed for the investigation and reopened before 7 a.m. on Friday.
