With U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s tariff threat top of mind with five days to go before he’s sworn in south of the border, there’s a good chance Ontario Premier Doug Ford will speak on the subject when he visits Mississauga on Thursday.
Ford will be a guest of the Mississauga Board of Trade at a sold-out lunch-hour event that will include a “fireside question-and-answer” session moderated by MBOT president and CEO Trevor McPherson.
“In Conversation with Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario” is being held at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale on Mississauga Road. It’s scheduled to begin around noon.
The premier is to deliver the keynote address starting at 12:10 or 12:20 p.m., organizers say. That will be followed by the “fireside” session.
Ford said Tuesday he’s convinced Ottawa has a “phenomenal” plan to secure the Canada-U. S. borderin response to Trump’s tariff threat, although he didn’t offer any details of that plan, The Canadian Press …
