Ontario truck driver arrested at Lewiston Port of Entry [Video]

An Ontario truck driver was arrested for allegedly importing morphine from the United States into Canada.

ONTARIO, Canada — A truck driver from Ontario was arrested at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge for allegedly importing morphine from the United States into Canada.

Border Patrol Officials say that Bashir Kasozi, 41, of Ontario, Canada, was arrested and charged with importation of morphine and possession with intent to distribute morphine.

On Friday, August, 23, Kasozi was driving a commercial truck from Massachusetts that he claimed contained a load of paper. 

When asked if he had anything to declare, Kasozi stated no. 

He was then referred to secondary inspection by Customs and Border Protection where 62 brown taped packages containing a smaller gold box with glass vials of morphine were found in the nose of the trailer.

Kasozi made an initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge, and is being held pending a detention hearing …
