Trent University is cancelling classes at Symons Campus and Traill College on Monday, with the City of Peterborough declaring a state of emergency after Saturday’s ice storm caused widespread power outages.

While residences at Trent’s main campus remain open, the Athletics Centre, Bata Library and other on-campus facilities will be closed. Staff and faculty who are not required to be on campus are asked to stay at home and work remotely where possible.

Housing and Food Services will be supporting those living on campus and residence dons will be on-site with wellness checks. Students may also visit service centres that have been set up on campus. Students in residence should look for posters around campus with updates and information as digital and cell communication are a “challenge.”

Staff from Campus Safety (705-748-1333) are also patrolling campus and working to respond to calls as quickly as possible.
