The streets at the centre of the butter tart universe will be oozing ooey, gooey sweet treats Saturday for the Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival, with the province’s finest bakers headed to Midland to see who makes the best butter tart.
Plain? Raisins? Pecans? Or ‘wild style? Each style has its fans and the judges will decide on a winner among a lot of competition for the big prizes.
There will be more than 200 vendors at the festival, including more than 70 butter tart bakers. Last year the vendors sold more than 300,000 tarts to fans of one of Canada’s most famous culinary creations.
