An Oregon man fled a traffic stop, sparking a police pursuit that ended in a crash on the Idaho side of the Fruitland Bridge.
ONTARIO, Ore. — What started as a driving complaint turned into a police pursuit after an Oregon driver fled from police during a traffic stop.
Oregon State Police (OSP) on Thursday said one of its troopers conducted a traffic stop around milepost 327 on Interstate 84 in Oregon.
Police had suspicion that the driver was impaired, so the trooper called in an additional unit. Oregon State Police then tried to complete a field sobriety test, but the driver fled the scene.
OSP followed the suspect through Baker and Malheur counties.
When troopers started to approach the Fruitland Bridge, the suspect crashed the vehicle on the Idaho side.
Troopers were then able to remove the driver from the vehicle and transport them to an area hospital.
