Ottawa police stop several drivers for stunt driving last weekend [Video]

A G2 driver will have to explain to their father why he doesn’t have a car for work this week after being stopped for speeding in Ottawa.

The Ottawa Police Service’s Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit says an officer observed an 18-year-old driver going 125 km/h on Bronson Avenue on Sunday. The speed limit is 70 km/h.

“‘But my dad needs the car for work’ didn’t cut-it for an 18-year-old G2 driver caught doing 125 in a post 70 km/h zone,” police said on X.

The driver is facing a charge of stunt driving, which includes a 30-day licence suspension, and the vehicle is impounded for 14 days.

Officers issued several charges for stunt driving on Hwy. 417 and local roads over the weekend.

On Sunday, police said a driver was stopped going 155 km/h on Highway 417.
