The fundraising Presigious Pedigreed Seed Auction at the Ottawa Valley Farm Show raised a record amount for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) this year.

The total of $57,800 broke the previous record by almost $20,000. The Ottawa Valley Seed Growers (which runs the Ottawa Valley Farm Show) is the longest-running external fundraising partner for CHEO. In 33 years, the show has raised $336,632.

Toy tractors and bags of seed sold for upwards of $2,000 each as individuals, farmers, associations and businesses at the show bid up the items to raise funds for the cause. The Court of Honour, where the competing and winning agriculture crops are displayed was crowded as people peered around the displays, while making sure not to inadvertently catch the eye of an auction spotter.
