Over 6,700 athletes took part in the 2024 Boston Half Marathon on Sunday, marking the 22nd year the race has been held.Organized by the Boston Athletic Association and presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, the race began in 2001 and has taken place every year since then except for 2020 and 2021, when it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The 13.1-mile course, which starts and finishes at White Stadium in Boston’s Franklin Park, runs along the city’s Emerald Necklace Park System and passes the Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Pond, Willow Pond and Olmsted Park before turning on the Riverway and passing the parks on the other side.Yemane Haileselassie of Eritrea and Fentaye Belayneh of Ethiopia won the men’s and women’s open divisions, respectively, with times of 1:01:46 and 1:10:26.The men’s and women’s wheelchair divisions were won by Americans Daniel Romanchuk and Michelle Wheeler with times of 47:38 …
