A passenger suffered “life-altering” injuries after the truck she was in left the roadway in south Whitby and struck a tree in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police responded to the single vehicle collision at 5:30 a.m. Sunday near Wentworth Street and Forbes Street, just west of the Oshawa border. Police said a white Ford pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree.
The passenger was transported to a Toronto trauma centre with life-altering injuries while the driver was taken to Oshawa Hospital with minor injuries.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit were on the scene and the roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
